Shrewsbury- On Sunday, Nov. 19, State Sen. Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) will discuss changes to current healthcare financing in Massachusetts, through bills that he and State Rep.  Jennifer Benson (D-Lunenburg) have proposed. The two will be at a forum to be held at the Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St., from 2-4:30 p.m.

“The single payer movement is growing across Massachusetts with a number of town halls held every month on the importance of reforming our broken health care system,” Eldridge said. “At every one of these forums, I hear from residents who can’t get the diagnosis and treatment they need, and who want to make health care a right in Massachusetts.”

Jackie Wolf of The League of Women Voters and Mass-Care will compare current U.S. healthcare under a multiple insurance and public payer system, to projected costs and public health coverage under a Single Payer system.

“There would be significant benefits across the Massachusetts economy – more funds going into health care, with cost savings to households and businesses,” she said.

This forum is open to the public.Questions and community dialogue will follow the policy and legislative presentations.

The forum is co-sponsored by the Democratic Town Committees of Shrewsbury, Northborough, and Westborough; as well as Westborough Indivisible, Indivisible Boros and Beyond, and Our Revolution-Worcester.
