Elsie SheanWorcester – Elsie M. (Mastro) Shean, 96, of Worcester, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of the late Edward G. Shean, who died in 1964.

Born in Shrewsbury, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Viola (Congahilia) Mastro. She was one of 13 children of Italian immigrants. She died knowing her faith would reunite her with her husband, parents and siblings in heaven.

Elsie worked at the Rochdale Knitting Mills for over 20 years. She also was a housekeeper for several years.

She is survived by her brother, Anthony R. Mastro and his wife, Betty, of Shrewsbury; her sister-in-law, Claire Mastro of Orleans; and a special friend, Kathy Boylan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Driscoll, Margaret Archambo, Helen Zingarelli, Frances Ruggere, Eva Rose, Lena Chenevert, John, William, Anna, Vincent and Benny Mastro.

Family and friends celebrated Elsie’s life Nov. 30 at the Chiampa Funeral Home 〜 The Sumner House in Shrewsbury, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne’s Church and burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
