Shrewsbury  – The Board of Directors for Shrewsbury Youth & Family Services (SYFS) has appointed Christine Mowry as the Interim Executive Director of the agency.

“We are confident that Christine Mowry has the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to take on this key leadership role,” said SYFS Board of Directors Chair Tom Kennedy. “Her previous roles within the agency have prepared her well and she is fully committed.”

Mowry, a Shrewsbury resident, most recently served as the Project Director for Youth Mental Health First Aid for SYFS. Mowry’s responsibilities included developing the materials and training plan for the grant, hiring and training instructors, facilitating each eight-hour certification program, monitoring effectiveness of the program and ensuring compliance with federal government grant regulations. She was also tasked with engaging community partners and disseminating the program information throughout five towns. Mowry has also been serving as the SYFS Coordinator for The Shrewsbury Coalition for Drug Prevention and Education, representing the agency at community resource fairs, as well as providing crisis management, fuel assistance and other social services for SYFS.

“I am grateful and humbled by the Board’s appointment of me as the Interim Executive Director,” Mowry remarked. “I am inspired by this opportunity to broaden not only my impact in the agency, but also the agency’s impact in the community.”

SYFS is the community’s only private, nonprofit counseling and social services agency. With a mission “to provide counseling and other supportive services to members of our community,” SYFS provides a diverse offering of programs and services that help to strengthen and support youth and families.
