Marlborough – With this year’s theme of “Peace on Earth,” about 1,000 guests gathered Dec. 14 for the holiday season’s 28th annual Evening of Giving at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough.
Proceeds go to Roland’s House, formerly known as the Marlborough-Hudson Homeless Shelter. In the last fiscal year, the program provided safe shelter and support services for 109 homeless men. This event provides approximately 15 percent of the funding needed to operate the program through the year.
Once again, Bob Kays served as event chair with Ivette Mesmar coordinating the food from over 25 eateries. For the 28th year, Chef Leon Roberge hosted the popular shrimp and raw bar adorned with his ice sculpture. St. Mary’s Credit Union sponsored the raw bar. Deejays Matt Ruffing and Steve Woodard provided music. Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club members handled the coat check.
Guests were encouraged to bring toiletry items to be donated to Roland’s House in Marlborough and the Willis House, a family shelter in Hudson. Donation bins were also placed before the event at schools and other locations in Marlborough and Hudson.
