Hudson – Maria C. Dias, 92, of Hudson, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at her home in Hudson, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband, Jose J. Dias.
Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Manuel Tavares and Rosa (De Jesus) Couto. Maria immigrated to Hudson along with her husband Jose, where she resided until she passed away.
Maria worked for Thomas Taylor and Son’s in Hudson before she eventually retired.
Maria was a longtime member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson. She also enjoyed crocheting in her spare time. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Amongst her many survivors, she leaves behind her three children, Agostinho C. Dias, Maria Dias Fortuna and her husband Humberto, and Rosa M. Chaves and her husband Arsenio P.; three grandchildren, Justin, Jocelyn and Sarah Chaves; and her great-grandchild, Ayden Chaves.
A period of visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 4-7 p.m., at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 20, at 9 a.m., at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery in Hudson for final committal prayers.
