Doreen CavanaghMarlborough – Doreen (Rizzelli) Lundberg Cavanagh, 68, lifelong Marlborough resident, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at her home, with her family by her side.

Born in Marlborough on May 23, 1949, she was the daughter of the late William and Rita (Fahey) Rizzelli. She graduated Marlborough High School, class of 1968, and had been employed for over 30 years as the manager of various cafeterias in the Marlborough school system. Following her retirement, she spent the majority of her time with her grandchildren, who knew her as Nonie, helping in any way possible. She had also held several part time jobs which were important to her, such as cooking for the Friars at the former St. Ann Parish in Marlborough and working as a waitress at the Marlborough Country Club where she made many friends.

Doreen is survived by her son, Eric and his wife Cherie (Ballard) Lundberg of Ashland; her grandchildren, Sarah, Eric, and Jessica, all who cared for her during her illness; and her son, Ryan Lundberg of Framingham; her two brothers, James of Marlborough and William Rizzelli of Millbury; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Cavanagh, and by her sister, Mary Frances Rizzelli.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Jan. 19, from 9-11 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Arrangements are under the direction of the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
