Westborough – The Westborough High School Rangers boys’ basketball team defeated the Marlborough High School Panthers by a score of 54-48 in a game played Jan. 2.

Westborough built a 40-23 lead by halftime, which was enough of a cushion to withstand a 16-point fourth quarter run by Marlborough and hang on for the win.

Westborough’s Matthew Doherty and Jake Hughes were the top scorers with 14 points each.  Michael Doherty (12 points) and Domenic Casparriello (10 points) also scored double figures.  Angel Strange was Marlborough’s top scorer with 14 points, while Kevin Short contributed 13.

With the win, Westborough improved to 3-1 on the season while Marlborough fell to 4-2.
