Grafton – Apple Tree Arts, One Grafton Common, is offering a “Rock the Arts” vacation workshop for grades 3-7 Monday to Friday, Feb. 19-23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Directed by Matt Mariner, creative dramatics manager, the workshop gives participants an opportunity to focus on their music, acting and dance skills in a fun collaborative way. Students will star in a creative musical revue featuring their favorite pop, rock ’n’ roll and hip hop music. Together the students choose the music, direct skits and choreograph dances for an original performance to be held Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. The performance will feature several large and small group ensemble numbers in which students will have the opportunity to perform solos.
“We’re expanding our theatre program so we may give students a variety of theatrical experiences and to give them another option for an activity to enjoy during the winter school break,” explained theatre arts director Lisa Scarlett. “It’s a great way for kids to try a theatre arts program without a lengthy time commitment, which is especially appealing for students who participate in several extracurricular activities. The vacation workshops are fun way for students to continue developing their theatrical skills during the break, too.”
