Kathleen ValiantiMarlborough – Kathleen Mary (Child) Valianti, 84, of Marlborough, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital. “Kitty,” as she was affectionately known, was the loving and devoted wife of the late Joseph Stephen Valianti, who died in 1991.

Born and raised in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Laurence and Madeline (Lord) Child and the beloved sister of the late Patricia Foley.

Kathy was the devoted mother of Lisa O’Brien and her husband Joe of Boxborough, Stephanie Graham and her husband Bruce of Grafton and Jody Carpenter and her husband Brian of Paxton. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and she was the loving grandmother of Joey and Hayley O’Brien, Shannon and Chris Graham and Hannah, Emily, Noah and Drew Carpenter.

She was the sister-in-law of Massimo and Linda Valianti of Marlborough, who were two blessings in her life. She is also survived by her dear cousins and many loving nieces, nephews and her dearly cherished and devoted friends, who she considered family, including her former St. Michael’s School classmates as well as her much loved neighbors on Greenwood St.

Kathy had a special place in her heart for her beloved friend and caregiver, Madison Diamond, who allowed her to live out her life to the fullest.

With a fondness for travel Kathy most enjoyed spending long summer days at the ocean with her family, with a special affinity for Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester.

She would especially want to thank all of her wonderful friends at the Emerson and Marlborough hospitals, who provided such loving care, and a special thanks to her physicians, Dr. Clifford Risk, Dr. Jon Dubois, Dr. James Weitzman and Dr. Neil Kluger. Their expertise allowed her to spend extra years with her grateful family and friends.

A lifelong Catholic, Kathy was a member of St. Bernadette Parish family. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m., at St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St. (Route 20), Northborough. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 3-7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
