Marlborough – Lidia A. (Pecoraro) Colacchio, 93, a longtime Marlborough resident, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.  She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Colacchio, who died in 1987.

Born in Pordenone, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Luciano and Maria Pia (Pagnonsin) Pecoraro. She was raised and educated in Italy.  In 1945, she married the love of her life, William, who had been stationed in Italy during World War II.  She and her husband then moved to United States and settled in Marlborough, where she lived in Marlborough the rest of her life.

Prior to retirement, Lidia worked for the General Electric Co. on the assembly line for four years, then worked as a cook at the former Pleasant View Nursing Home in Marlborough for seven years, and then worked at the former John & Son’s Bakery in Marlborough for 13 years.

Lidia enjoyed gardening, completing puzzles, reading, knitting, cooking for everyone with her Italian heritage, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by five children, William Colacchio of Marlborough, John Colacchio and his wife Cheryl of Ashland, Anna and her husband James Rumsey of Marlborough, Theresa and her husband Mitchell Meltzer of Ashland, and Anthony Colacchio of Marlborough; four grandchildren, James Rumsey, Lisa Sowden and her husband Keith, Tifany Colacchio and her partner Kathy Umile, and Brenton Colacchio; and six great-grandchildren, Olivia Sowden, Noah Sowden, Sofia Sowden, Madison Rumsey, James Rumsey, and Trevor Umile. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Leno Pecoraro, Mario Pecoraro, Elio Pecoraro, and Maria Darby.

Her funeral Mass will be held Friday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m., in St. Bernadette Parish, 266 Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Marlborough. An hour of visitation will be held prior to her funeral Mass from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the William R. Short & Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough.
