Boston- The Algonquin Regional High School boys’ basketball team had a rare opportunity to play at the TD Garden Jan. 27, when they took on Westford Academy as one of the matchups in the Good Sports TD Garden Invitational.  The event serves as a fundraiser for Good Sports, an organization that helps to lay the foundation for healthy, active lifestyles by providing athletic equipment, footwear, and apparel to disadvantaged young people.

Algonquin built a 33-18 lead by halftime and cruised to a 71-53 victory.  Brian Duffy (24 points) and Kyle Henderson (22 points) dominated the scoring.

The Algonquin Regional cheerleaders made the trip to the Garden as well and performed throughout the game.  Players from the Southborough Youth Basketball league also had the opportunity to shoot baskets from the famous parquet floor during halftime.

With the win, Algonquin improved to 10-2 on the season and qualified for the postseason playoff tournament.  Westford Academy fell to 7-7 with the loss.
