Frederick J. RogersHudson – Frederick J. “Fred” Rogers, 82, of Hudson and formerly of Marlborough, died suddenly Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of the late Gertrude (Sandberg) Rogers, who died in 2008.

He was born in Framingham and raised in Westborough, the son of the late Elton and Johanna (Horgan) Rogers. He was a graduate of Westborough High School, class of 1953.

Fred was the caretaker at St. Mary’s Church and Cemetery in Marlborough for 40 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a diehard New England Patriots fan, never missing a game. He loved yard sales, old cars and spending time with his family. Fred had a great sense of humor, a quick wit and an endless supply of jokes that he shared with everyone he met.

He leaves two sons, Thomas F. Rogers and his wife Laura of Pelham, N.H. and Michael E. Rogers and his wife Audra of Hudson; three daughters, Patricia A. Torchio and her husband Ralph of Watertown, Kathleen M. Rogers of Framingham, and Carol A. Nelson and her husband Erik of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Cole, Cade and Avery; and many nephews and nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough. Burial will be private.  Calling hours will be held Thursday, Feb. 1, from 4-6 p.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough.
