Westborough – Centrally located in Westborough, just off of Route 9, at 164 Milk St.,  Sakura Foot Reflexology is easily accessible for those in the ‘Burys and the ‘Boros. Upon entering the Spa, one is graciously greeted by Lucy Chen, owner of Sakura. The décor is at once calming with beautiful orchids, and energizing with a bright color scheme.

Chen has been in the business of massage therapy for over 15 years and spent the early part of her career in the Boston area. Based in Westborough for three years, Chen recently sold her Northborough and Grafton locations, consolidating her operations in her Westborough location with more space and ample parking to better serve her clients.

Foot reflexology is rooted in Chinese medicine and is a form of alternative medicine. It is the application of pressure to points on the feet that correspond to organs and systems of the body. The pressure applied to these areas affects the organs and benefits the person’s health.

Reflexologists use foot charts to guide them as they apply pressure to specific areas.  Chen explained that it has the following benefits – provides deep relaxation, eliminates toxins, relieves muscle aches and rheumatism naturally, strengthens the kidneys, improves circulation throughout the body, relieves fatigue and sleepless nights and even relieves foot odor naturally.

What can one expect when they go for a reflexology session? The beauty of reflexology is one does not need to disrobe. One is fully clothed. It is recommended to dress comfortably with pants that can be rolled up above the knees. Guests will be treated to a foot soak, and then they massage your feet, legs, arms, hands, back, neck, shoulders, face and scalp. Talk about relaxation!

“Reflexology is really organic and very healthy, everybody needs it,” shared Chen who comes from a family heavily involved in medicine. She has the expertise and knowledge of the pressure points and how to apply the pressure for maximum benefit. The more frequently one receives reflexology the better and faster they will benefit.

“If you keep the foot healthy because all the points are on the foot then you can stay young,” Chen said. The blockage of an energy field, invisible life force, or Qi, can prevent healing and pressure received in the feet send signals that “’balance” the nervous system or release chemicals such as endorphins that reduce stress and pain.

Sakura also offers Asian Bodywork which is an Asian-style massage with pressure manipulation techniques to move and balance Qi to maintain or restore health. Additionally, Sakura offers body shampoo which is a body scrub and rinse.
