Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning:

On 2/8/18, at approximately 5:29 PM, the Westborough Police Department received a call reporting a vehicle having crashed into a 2 car garage behind 4 Church Street which is where the Britton Summers Funeral Home is located.

The arriving units located a 2015 Honda Fit partially into the garage. The two occupants of the vehicle were safely removed without any injuries. They were examined by Paramedics from the Westborough Fire Department.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Francis Marnalse, age 76 of 31 Gardner Street Allston. The vehicle was owned by a Hopkinton resident who was a passenger in the vehicle.

The accident is investigated by Ptl. Laura Rossi. The investigation revealed that speed may have been a factor. The  vehicle had been traveling south on Church Street when the operator lost control and drove over the curbing and onto the lawn of 8 Church Street. The vehicle struck a granite sign and then proceeded to the back yard of 4 Church Street where the vehicle struck the garage.

The accident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
