Veronica M. CarlsonShrewsbury – Veronica M. “Ronnie” (Melikian) Carlson, 101, of Shrewsbury, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 peacefully in her home, surrounded by family.

Veronica was born in Shrewsbury to Mardiros and Gauber (Asadoorian) Melikian. She was a graduate of Major Beal High School. She loved her family, her friends, her home, and all animals. She enjoyed exploring local yard and estate sales and collected and appreciated antiques. She lived almost her entire life in Shrewsbury and was known to say “everything I need is right here.”

Veronica was the wife of the late E. James “Jim” Carlson. Her siblings, Sally Pashoian, George Melikian, Marion Poske, and Alice Parodeau, predeceased her. She is survived by three of her children, Robert Carlson and his wife Susana Salas of Monteverde, Costa Rica; Storm Carlson of Shrewsbury; and Jamie Anderson and her husband Andrew Anderson of Westford. She was the mother of the late Sandra Carlson Tarlow of New York City. Veronica is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody Carlson, Trevor Carlson, Leigh Anderson, and Kelsey Anderson. In addition, she leaves her great-granddaughter, Bo Carlson. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, many of whom are local in Worcester County.

Family and friends will celebrate Veronica’s life on Saturday, March 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston. A private burial of her ashes at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or an Animal Shelter of your choice.
