Region – Ghost Light Players of MetroWest will open their sixth season with “Summer & Smoke,” a relatively unknown play by treasured American playwright Tennessee Williams. Show dates are Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 25, at 2 p.m. at First Church in Marlborough, 37 High St., Marlborough.
“Summer & Smoke” follows a high-strung minister’s daughter, and the wild young doctor who is her next door neighbor. The two explore the many facets – romantic, physical, spiritual – of love.
“Summer & Smoke is a beautiful, heartbreaking love story that reaches into the core of human nature,” said the show’s director, Alecia Thomas. “I am absolutely thrilled to work with the actors to bring these characters to life, and to tell this story. The struggle between what our hearts want and what societal norms tell us we ‘should’ want is as old as time, and Tennessee Williams’ words truly bring this universal conflict to life.”
Limited premium seats, which are situated in the front row and include a cushion, are available for purchase at www.ghostlightplayers.com.
