Tomahawks girls hockey defeat Medfield in playoff action

Marlborough – The Tomahawks girls ice hockey team defeated Medfield by a score of 4-0 in the opening round of the MIAA Division 2 Ice Hockey playoffs Feb. 28. The game was played at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough.  The Tomahawks team is a co-op team that includes players from the Algonquin Regional, Hudson, Marlborough and Nashoba Regional high schools.

Amy MacGlashing dominated the scoring for the Tomahawks, scoring two goals and assisting on two others.  After a scoreless first period, Kerryn O’Connell’s second period shot found the net to open up the scoring.  The Tomahawks ran away with the game in the third period with three goals, one by Natalie Peterson and two by MacGlashing.

Algonquin, now 12-9 on the season, moves on to play Milton March 3 at 5 p.m. at the Ulin Rink in Milton.
