Shrewsbury – Josephine H. (D’Errico) Ceffalo, 95, a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at Falmouth Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late George Ceffalo.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Matteo and Isabelle (Piccinino) D’Errico.
She volunteered for many years teaching line dancing at Post 201 in Worcester. She was a member of the Frohsinn Club, Shrewsbury Senior Center and the Friends of the Shrewsbury Library. She also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and Foxwoods Casino with her husband George. Josephine was an avid reader, a great Italian cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. She worked as the cafeteria manager at the North shore school in Shrewsbury until her retirement in 1981.
Josephine is survived by her children, Eileen Assad and her partner Richard Gula of Falmouth and Florida, Nancy Moroney and her husband Robert of Falmouth, and Elizabeth Ceffalo and her lifelong partner Susan Malatos of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Cheryl Tomczyk and her husband Robert, Patrick Assad and his wife Bridgette, and Scott and Michael Moroney; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a granddaughter-in-law, Beth Shaughnessy. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Wigglesworth and Anna Barry, and several nieces and nephews and many friends from the Shrewsbury Senior Center.,She was the loving grandmother of the late Joseph Assad and the sister of the late Julio, Andrew, Michael, Matteo and Jim D’Errico.
Family and friends will honor and remember Josephine’s life by gathering for calling hours Saturday, March 10, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at The Chiampa Funeral Home, ~Sumner House~, 5 Church Rd. Shrewsbury. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.
