John P. Ryan Sr.Hudson – John “Jack” P. Ryan Sr., 74, of Hudson, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 after battling a long illness.

Jack leaves behind his wife, best friend, and soulmate of 43 years, Kathleen (Cardoza) Ryan; his daughter, Laura E. Zouharis and her husband Demetrious of Marlborough; his grandson, John, and granddaughter, Mary; his son, John Ryan Jr. and his wife Jackie of Hudson; his grandson, Cody, and granddaughter, Hailey; daughter, Megan Kasaras and her husband Jeff of Hudson; and his granddaughter, Madi. Jack also leaves a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth R. (Lawson) Ryan, and brothers Thomas Jr., Robert, and James Ryan.

Jack was born in May 23,1943 in Marlborough and graduated from Marlborough High School in 1961. Right after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany, Alpha Battery, where he worked as a Radar Specialist.

After his time in the Army, he was appointed to the Marlborough Fire Department in May 1972, and served the city for 34 years on shift 4, driving the ladder truck. He also worked part-time at the Fire Academy in Stow until retiring in December 2017.

Jack was the best father who took so much pride in his children and grandchildren. He loved to go see the grandkids’ activities. He was a true outdoorsman and he loved fishing and hunting. He also was a true Bruins and Patriots fan, even when they were losing. Jack also loved vacationing in Maine and Cape Cod, and we have so many happy memories of those times.

His funeral service was held March 5 at the TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME of Hudson, with burial at Forestvale Cemetery.
