Marjorie E. ValleeMarlborough – Marjorie E. (McGovern) Vallee, 96, of Marlborough, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 in Stoughton.

Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Edwina (Smith) McGovern, and the wife of the late Wilrose N. Vallee, to whom she had been married for 64 years prior to his death in 2007.

Formerly of Southborough, Mrs. Vallee graduated from Marlborough High School in 1939 and attended Framingham Business College. She had been employed as a secretary at the former Cushing Hospital, Framingham and at the New England Regional Primate Research Center, Southborough.

Following her retirement in 1980, Mr. and Mrs. Vallee spent many happy winters in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Southborough, and a member of the Colonial Garden Club of Marlborough since 1977.

She enjoyed cooking, walking, water aerobics at the Wayside Racquet Club, Marlborough, and a weekly card game with longtime friends. She also participated in the many activities and opportunities sponsored by the Southborough and Marlborough Senior Centers.

She is survived by her brother, Raymond McGovern and his wife Francine of Seminole, Fla., and many beloved nieces and nephews, especially Steven Fantony and family of Southborough and James Fantony and family of Stoughton, with whom she shared a special relationship. She was also the sister of the late James McGovern and Charlotte Fantony, both of Southborough; Phillip McGovern of Portland, Maine; and Richard McGovern of Marlborough.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 10 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Southborough. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery, Cordaville Road (Route 85), Southborough. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, March 10, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
