Lions Club sponsors international Youth Camp Exchange Program

Westborough – The Westborough Lions Club is a sponsoring partner of the Lions Club International Foundation’s Youth Camp Exchange (YCE) Program for the summer of 2018. Students from ages 15 to 22 can experience life in other cultures this summer and gain new understanding of the world through travel abroad. YCE does not involve academic study or employment. Instead, participants are encouraged to use this travel opportunity to represent their home countries and share their own culture while learning about and embracing a new one, forging the way to becoming youth ambassadors for peace and international understanding.

Students spend 10 days living with a host family and another eight days in a camp setting, usually a college campus, where they are chaperoned by Lion volunteers during activities designed to teach them about the culture. There are over 100 camps in over 40 countries to choose from. Students will meet people their own age from around the world, will learn about their Lions hosts’ humanitarian work, will deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them, will learn about the bonds we all share, and the differences we respect in each other no matter where we live.

If you are interested in applying for travel this summer, contact Susan Ash at the Westborough Lions Club at [email protected]. Deadlines for applying vary by country chosen, but start as early as the end of March.
