Stanley V. MatuzekGrafton – Stanley V. Matuzek, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 6, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation in Worcester. His wife of 28 years, Irene (Russell) Matuzek, passed away in 1990.

He is survived by his daughters, Diane Moen and her husband Kevin and Cindy Roy and her husband Dave and son Stanley and his wife Elizabeth, and his grandchildren, Katelyn and David Roy, Courtney and Tiffany Moen and Kylie, Sydney and Mackenzie Matuzek, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Stella Lipinski.

Stanley was born May 14, 1924 in Poland, son of the late Nellie (Smileck) and Vincent Matuzek. His Polish heritage was something he treasured throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and returned home and went to work at General Motors as an Assembler for 35 years.

Stanley was happiest at home taking exquisite care of his house and gardens, listening to Polish music or during the summer following the Boston Red Sox along with an occasional trip to the beaches on Cape Cod.

Stanley’s family extends its thanks to the caring staff at Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation in Worcester for their compassionate care.

His funeral Mass was celebrated March 10 at St. James Church of Grafton. He was then laid to rest with military honors at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton.
