Hudson – Paul A. Hellen, 66, of Hudson, passed away peacefully Friday, March 16, 2018 while visiting his sister, Diane Hellen, in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Paul was born June 19, 1951 in Hudson, the son of the late Robert (“Bangsy”) and Ruth (“Garvey”) Hellen. Paul was raised in Hudson and attended Hudson Catholic High, Wentworth, and Worcester Polytech where he received his Master’s degree in Mathematics.

Paul taught school for many years at Hudson Catholic, Worcester Academy, and in Maine. He later taught at Assumption College in their evening program and tutored many students. Later, he became a postman for the U.S. Postal Service, covering the Northborough area until his retirement in 2016.

Paul was an avid sports fan with particular interest in the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He also loved to listen to Sports Talk Radio after he retired. Paul was also a former runner who ran and finished the Ocean State Marathon in his younger days.

Paul is survived by his brother, Tom and his wife Mary Ann Hellen of Somerville; his nieces, Amanda Hellen of Somerville and Meredith Dziuba of Medford; his sister, Diane Hellen of Pompano Beach, Fla.; his Aunt Mary Hellen of Hudson; and his Aunt Lorraine Hellen, also from Hudson, plus many cousins from around the area and in California, New York, and Minnesota.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours Monday, March 26, from 4-7 p.m., at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the next day Tuesday, March 27, at 9 a.m., at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his name to the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., Hudson, MA 01749.
