Northborough – The Northborough Police Department released this statement this afternoon:
On March 22, 2018, the Northborough Police Department with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crimes Unit, and the Department of Homeland Security arrested Mark Baier, age 55, of Milford, Massachusetts.
Baier had posted on Craiglist.com that he was interested in meeting a young female in Northborough. Northborough detectives responded to the advertisement and had further conversation with him. As a result an undercover detective met with Baier in Northborough where he expressed his desire to have a sexual relationship with an eleven year old female.
On March 22, 2018, Baier drove to Watson Park in Northborough where he was under the impression he would be meeting an eleven year old girl who was to be brought to him by the undercover detective. It was at this location where Baier expressed he was going to have sexual contact with this minor inside his van. He was placed under arrest by officers from the Northborough Police at Watson Park.
Baier was arraigned at Westborough District Court this morning on the following charges: Enticing a minor under the age of 16 for sex and Attempting to commit child rape.
