Multi-service contracting company offers over 15 years of experienceUxbridge – Shine Construction, Inc., 301 N. Main Street, in Uxbridge, is an example of how a business can grow itself from a small roofing contractor to a multi-service contracting company through a reputation for hard work, good service, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

“We are family owners who want to help people,” said owner Manuel (Manny) Cunin, who has over 15 years of experience in the roofing industry.

When seeking a location for his business, Uxbridge, with its in-town lumberyard and proximity to Route 146 appealed to Cunin, who frequently does work in Rhode Island as well as Massachusetts. The company has been in Uxbridge for over a year.

Shine Construction, Inc. is a certified roofing contractor, but in addition to roof replacement and repair, also offers seamless gutter, siding and replacement window installation, as well as roof-top snow removal services. They are fully insured and licensed in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and are also certified with GAF (North American’s largest roofing manufacturer), the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), and with the Better Business Bureau.

The company also offers a 24-hour emergency service for storm damage repair; Cunin remarked that several former customers had contacted him after March snowstorms for roof-raking and to have snow shoveled from their roof.

For Shine Construction, Inc., weather provides the biggest challenge. While replacing the roof on a single family house usually takes only about 1-2 days to complete, depending on the size, several rainy days in a row can delay even the smallest job.

According to Cunin, May and June are the best months for roof replacement, but he noted that many of his customers don’t start thinking about having work done on their roofs until after     August. That’s when their thoughts turn to cold weather; they want to insure their roofs and their homes are in good shape to survive the winter.

Sometimes, Cunin noted, a roof may appear to need replacing when, in fact, all it needs is what Shine Construction, Inc. refers to as “a tune-up.”

“An attic may have bad ventilation and moisture may form,” explained Cunin. “The customer will think the roof is leaking but it isn’t.” The solution may be a simple repair to the existing roofing material that will be significantly less expensive than an unnecessary roof replacement.

Estimates are free, and the work done by Shine Construction, Inc. carries warranties which range from 10 years to a life time.

“We help the customer,” said Cunin. “That’s our priority.”
