Marlborough – The city of Marlborough has announced the details of the 2018 Marlborough Labor Day Favorite Parade Memory Essay Contest and Coloring Contest.

For 66 years, the parade has been a wonderful community event. This annual parade is a collaborative effort and provides the city of Marlborough with a platform to showcase all that it offers and the city’s shared community pride.

To celebrate its 67th parade and remember the wonderful memories this tradition has brought, Marlborough is holding the 2018 Marlborough Labor Day Favorite Parade Memory Essay Contest. They invite all members of the community to participate by submitting and essay (350 words or less) that describes their favorite Marlborough Labor Day Parade Memory or tradition. The best essay, chosen for its descriptive quality and content, will be published in the Marlborough Enterprise this summer and posted on the MLDParade website. The winner will also receive a gift certificate from a local merchant.

In addition, the city will hold a Coloring Contest for residents 10 years old and younger.  Children in this age group can submit a drawing of their favorite parade memory. All entries should be drawn on 8 ½ x 11-inch paper and should include the child’s name and age on the back. Each entry will be posted on the parade website. One winner will be chosen for use of color and expression in their art. The winner will receive a gift certificate.
