Northborough – An evening of modern jazz singing featuring Lisa Thorson Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m. at First Parish Church UU, 40 Church St., in Northborough. Thorson, an esteemed singer and Berklee professor, has toured throughout the U.S., Canada and Italy as a concert artist and jazz vocal clinician. Her trademark in performing has become not only her playful scat singing, but her mastery of improvising in a broader sense – digging deep into a note, surprising with original phrasing, unexpected emotion, and always on pitch.
