Sr. Vivian LamontagneMarlborough – Sr. Vivian Lamontagne, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sr. M. Bernadette of the Rosary, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Marie Esther Health Center in this city. She was 82 years old and in the 54th year of vowed religious life.

Born in Ludlow, she was the youngest of four children and the only daughter of Arthur and Stella (Mongeau) Lamontagne. She was a graduate of the former St. Anne Academy and attended St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. She held CNA certification in Massachusetts. She joined the Sisters of St. Anne in 1961 in Marlborough and professed vows in 1963.

Sr. Vivian began her years of service as a primary grade teacher. She became a food manager in Sister of St. Anne convents in Worcester and Marlborough in Massachusetts and in Central Falls, R.I. Following studies in Nursing, she spent many years caring for her religious community members at the then St. Anne Infirmary (now the Marie Esther Health Center) in Marlborough. She was a patient care assistant for several years at AdCare Hospital in Worcester. When she became a resident at St. Anne Convent, she served as a driver, a volunteer in the Health Center and a hospice visitor at UMass Memorial Campus, Hospice.

Sister Vivian was predeceased by her parents and her brothers. She leaves to grieve her nephew, Dan Lamontagne; the Sisters of St. Anne; and the residents and staff of Marie Esther Health Center.

A funeral liturgy was held April 9 at St. Anne Convent of Marlborough, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home of Marlborough assisted with arrangements.
