Algonquin blanks St. John’s in home opener

Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks baseball team defeated the St. John’s High School Pioneers by a score of 3-0 in their first home game of the season April 13.

Algonquin scored all of their runs in the bottom of the third inning.  Ben Poon singled, Patrick Solomon walked and Owen Coderre singled to load up the bases.  Nate Anderson knocked in two runs on a fielder’s choice.  Coderre then scored on a Drew Courtwright infield grounder.  Anthony Francalancia pitched a complete game for Algonquin.

Tyler Mudd pitched 5 innings for St. Johns, striking out 7, before Nick Gleason came in to pitch the final frame.
