Clara LynchSouthbridge – Clara (Contardo) Lynch, 96 of Southbridge, formerly of Hudson, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Southbridge Rehab and Healthcare, after a period of declining health. She is reunited with her beloved husband, Edward J. Lynch Sr., who predeceased her in 1993, and her two sons, Edward and Thomas Lynch, both who predeceased her as well.

Clara was born in Boston and raised in the North End, one of eight children of two Italian immigrants, Michaelangelo and Maria (Del Gaudio) Contardo. After graduating from high school, Clara married the love of her life, Edward J. Lynch, and together they eventually settled in Hudson, where they resided for 60 years. Clara worked as a secretary at Digital Equipment Corp for many years before she eventually retired. She was also a longtime member of Saint Michael Parish in Hudson.

Clara spent her life loving and caring for others even up until her final days and her generous nature never changed; sharing what little she had with others and never thinking twice. Her devout Catholic faith served as a guiding light throughout her life through which she gained her strength. True to her Italian heritage, Clara loved to cook for her family and loved ones and Sunday dinners were a tradition as her family grew. She also enjoyed crocheting and later picked up painting as a hobby while a resident at Marlborough Hills Nursing home for four years.

Clara is survived by her grandchildren, Heather M. Madden, Stacey J. Flanders, Katie A. Lynch and Michael E. Lynch; her great-grandchildren, Michael E. Madden, Jessica M. Madden, Karsyn R. Flanders, Jacob T. Flanders, Baylee J. Lynch and Amber R. Miller; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and and two sons, she was also predeceased by her seven siblings, Dominic A. Contardo, Anthony Contardo, Joseph Contardo, Otto Contardo, Guy Contardo, Mary Mandra, and Nettie Corola.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour Wednesday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, immediately followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12 p.m. Upon completion of services a funeral cortege will process to Saint Michael Cemetery for final committal services.
