Virginia DacierHudson – Virginia Jane (Babcock) Dacier, 89, of Hudson, formerly of Marlborough, died Monday, May 14, 2018 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was the daughter of the late Frederick D. and Ida J. (James) Babcock and the wife of the late William D. Brumby, who died in 1970.

She graduated from Endicott Junior College with a degree in advertising. Upon graduation she worked for several years writing advertising copy at the Boston Herald. Later she went on to become co-owner of the B and D Package Store in Marlborough.

Virginia spent her summers in Maine at Wells Beach where she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and soaking up the sun. As well as her love for dining out and spending time with her family, she enjoyed travelling, especially to Europe where she would go with her friends and former husband, Dr. Donald Dacier of Hudson.

Besides her former husband, she is survived by her son, David Brumby and his wife Kathy of Northborough; her daughter, Joan Ingalls and her husband Ken of Sullivan, Maine; her grandchildren, David and Christopher Brumby and Kenny and Emily Ingalls; her great-grandchildren, Lyla and David Brumby; her daughter-in-law, Judy Cohen of Montville, Maine; and nieces, Nancy Richards and Betsy Messenger. Virginia was predeceased by her daughter, Alison Brumby.

A private service will be held for Virginia. Arrangements are under the direction of the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
