Kenneth C. Washburn Jr., 85, of MarlboroughMarlborough – Kenneth C. Washburn Jr. 85, of Marlborough, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Marlborough Hospital after a respiratory illness. He was the husband of Jacqueline Marie (Burrill) Washburn for 59 years.

Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Bridget C. (Nicholas) Washburn, and lived here all of his life. He was a 1951 graduate of Marlborough High School.

Mr. Washburn served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was employed as a Customer Service Supervisor for 38 years at United Airlines in New York, Cleveland and Boston. He retired in March 1994.

He was a Corporator at the Marlborough Savings Bank for 13 years, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 638 and also a member of the American Legion Post 132. He was a member of the Retired United Airlines Employees Association. He was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Marlborough. He was an avid New England sports fan.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Kenneth C. Washburn III and his wife Allison L. of Doylestown, Pa. and Christopher M. Washburn and his wife Anna of Rutland; a daughter, Kimberly A. Russell of Hudson; a sister, Constance M., wife of Edward A. Tynan of Franklin; and seven grandchildren, Mitchell K. Washburn, Alyssa M. Russell, Kelsey M. Washburn, Robert D. Russell, Rian C. Washburn, Brenna A. Washburn and Averie E. Washburn.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, May 23, at 11 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Marlborough. Arrangements under the direction of the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home of Marlborough.
