Northborough – Kevin Lamy of Lamy Automotive has been serving the auto repair needs of Northborough and its surrounding communities for 28 years. He and his wife Robin opened their business in August of 1990.

Kevin grew up in Southborough and attended Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School. He started repairing cars in 1984. Shortly after Robin and Kevin married, they relocated to Northborough, where they raised their three grown daughters, one of whom created the business’ website.

Located at 200 Bartlett St., Lamy Automotive provides tune-ups, oil changes, brake service, engine and transmission service, computer diagnostics and radiators.

“We work on every make and model out there, foreign and domestic,” Lamy stated.

They specialize in electrical and heating and cooling systems as well as a full range of tire services.

Although they don’t do car inspections, it’s not for a lack of trying.

“I’ve been trying to get the inspection license for 1 years. The state will only allow 1,600 in the state,” Lamy explained.

He put his name on the list and as businesses closed and licenses became available, he moved up the list but then the state changed their process and Lamy was back to square one.

“I’d love to have one so it would be one-stop shopping, so I hope to be doing stickers sometime soon. Keep your eye out for the sign,” he said.

Lamy is well-versed on the rules and regulations needed for operating an automotive repair business. He shared that just this year mechanics have been required to obtain a license to purchase air conditioning refrigerant and that he is up-to-date on all required licenses.

Community service is important to Lamy and he has received certificates of distinction for his financial support of the Wounded Warrior Project.

Lamy said, “We do what can to help veterans.”

Lamy Automotive can be proud of their A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and are a verified business on Yelp with a 4-star rating. Additionally, they have multiple positive reviews.

“We are known for just being honest,” Kevin said. “We aren’t going to sell you something that you don’t need. That’s our biggest compliment. There’s a lot of thieves in the business; we see it all the time.”

If there is ever a problem, he added, they will do their utmost to fix it.
