Volunteers sought for new Westborough Spirit Committee

Dear Westborough Citizens,

I’m writing this note in the hopes that we can generate some interest among our Westborough citizens in becoming a member of the soon to be formed and appointed Westborough Spirit Committee. Following the tremendous success of the year-long celebration of Westborough’s 300th Anniversary, many people expressed their hope that we could continue to plan town-wide celebratory events each year. I’m not sure exactly what this would look like, but, perhaps, it could include annual fireworks, some type of parade, etc. As we did for the 300th, this committee would likely wish to work in partnership with other service organizations in Westborough. As you know, our 300th Committee worked closely with the Rotary Club, the Civic Club, the Veterans, and the School Department. We also partnered to some degree with a number of other groups.

Thanks to the generosity of our many financial donors, we exceeded our fundraising goal and were left with a sum of money that will be transferred to the Spirit Committee and serve as seed money to allow the new group to begin their event planning.

The Westborough Board of Selectmen are seeking volunteers to serve on this committee?   Interested parties should send letter of interest and resume to:

The Board of Selectmen, Town Hall, 34 West Main St., Westborough, MA 01581

If anyone has questions, you may refer them to me.

Thank you!
