Shrewsbury – Eleanor Sargent passed away in January, leaving behind her husband of 54 years, Bob, her two children and five grandchildren.

Recently her husband decided to honor her memory by hosting a Celebration of Life at his home for family and friends.

In spite of the unseasonably chilly weather, Bob reported that the day was all he had hoped it would be. Instead of having the event catered, he manned the grill, cooking tenderloin for the 20-plus guests in attendance.

“We had tents up so we were all set,” he said. “Everyone had a great time.”

The couple moved to Shrewsbury over 50 years ago. Eleanor was worked as a secretary for Wyman-Gordon Manufacturing for many years, as a part-time cashier at the former Big D Supermarket in Shrewsbury and as a bookkeeper for the American Lung Association.
