Marlborough – Joanne C. (Materia) Compton, 86, of Marlborough, died June 18, 2018 at Marlborough Hills HealthCare Center. She was the wife of James Compton Sr. of Marlborough and the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Ranck) Materia. Joanne was also the sister of the late Rose Miller.
She took immense pleasure in raising her children, spending time with her family, cooking and was very passionate about her faith.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four children, her sons, James Compton Jr. and his wife Nancy of Berlin, Edward Compton of Marlborough, Michael Compton and his wife Roseanne of Uxbridge, and her daughter, Catherine Tierney and her husband Douglas Jr. of Stow; her sisters, Elizabeth Priest of Burlington and Gloria McCreary of Worcester; and her sister-in-law, Ellen Uminsky of Port Charlotte, Fla. Joanne is also survived by her grandchildren, Leanne, Stephanie, Danielle, Alexandra, Sydney, Julia, Colin and Elizabeth; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, June 25, from 5-7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 26, at 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
