Genevieve M. GrocciaShrewsbury – Genevieve “Jane” M. (Nalewajko) Groccia, 87, of Shrewsbury, formerly a long-time resident of North Grafton, passed away in the comfort of her home July 2, 2018, with her family at her bedside.

Jane is survived by her loving husband of over 59 years, Frank E. Groccia Jr.; a son, Frank E. Groccia III and his wife Beth Ann of Worcester; a daughter, Francine A. Karaska and her husband Mark of Groton; three grandchildren, Emily A. (Karaska) Renner and her husband Alex of New York City, Rachel M. Karaska of North Grafton, and Kyle A. Karaska of Denver; two brothers, Edward Naliwajka of Woodstock, Ga. and Joseph Nalewajko of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Mary Proia of Worcester; and nieces and nephews.

She was born in Stamford, Conn., daughter of the late, Felix and Anna (Karolczuk) Nalewajko. She grew up in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School and The Salter’s School. She and Frank moved their family to North Grafton in 1962, where they remained until just over one year ago.

Jane was a debt collector for many years with Medical Bureau of Economics, before retiring in 1996. She had previously worked as an office administrator for Monarch Spring Company.

She was a member of Saint Philip Church in Grafton.

She was dedicated to her family and their happiness. Jane was a true lady and in her most gracious way, brought a smile to all who knew her.

A calling hour will be held Saturday, July 7, from 8:15-9:15 a.m., in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. A procession will then depart the funeral home for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Saint Philip Church, 12 West St., Grafton center. Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery of Worcester.
