South Grafton – Janice M. (Whitehorn) Mulvey, 82, passed away peacefully July 8, 2018, surrounded by the family that meant everything to her. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Mulvey.
She is survived by her sons, Patrick Mulvey and his wife Carol from Auburn, Kevin Mulvey and his wife Heidi from North Grafton, and Thomas Mulvey from South Grafton; her granddaughters, Amanda and Meaghan from Worcester; brother Robert Whitehorn and wife Iris from Guilford, N.H.; sister Elizabeth Whitehorn and her partner Monique Maisterra from Attleboro; sister-in-law Beverly Whitehorn from North Reading, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Whitehorn, sister Mildred Whitehorn, and daughter-in-law Robin Mulvey.
Jan was born Feb. 16, 1936 in Medford, daughter of the late Ruby (Jones) and Abner Whitehorn. She graduated from the Nursing School at Boston Children’s Hospital and began working as a Pediatric Nurse, dedicating herself to children for many years working alongside Dr. Ramesh Mundra at his Pediatric Clinic in Grafton, and she also worked at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester and Fallon Clinic in Westborough.
During her retirement, she returned to Saint Vincent Hospital and volunteered there.
Closer to home, you might have found Jan reading a favorite sci-fi novel that she was known to love. For Jan, the joy in her life was found when her family was nearby as she cherished time with her three sons and her grandchildren along with close friends and neighbors.
All are welcome to gather with Jan’s family Thursday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, followed by a prayer service at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. She will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton.
