Hudson – Elena K. (Lymneos) Hood, 73, of Hudson, passed away peacefully July 11, 2018 at Milford Regional Hospital, with her beloved husband of 38 years, Wilfred “Tom” Hood by her side, after a period of declining health.
Elena was born Dec. 10, 1944 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Anthony and Katherine (Varkas) Lymneos. She was raised in Watertown, where she attended schools. Elena later moved to Waltham and eventually made her way to Hudson in 1974, where she resided until her passing. Elena met the love of her life, Tom, in 1980 and later that year they married and have spent the past 38 years of love together. She worked as a secretary at Marlborough Hospital for several years, before she eventually retired.
Elena was proud of her Greek Orthodox roots and true to her heritage, was a great cook and cherished spending time with her family. She loved caring for her home and tending her garden as well. Elena loved all animals and throughout the years adopted and raised many pets in her home.
In addition to her loving husband, Tom, Elena is also survived by her children, Charles Ballas and his wife Diane of Worcester, Michelle N. Holt and her husband Rudy of Allen, Texas, Christopher R. Hood of Jacksonville, Fla., and Heather A. Kidd and her husband Casey of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Anthony Lymneos and his wife Judy; her grandchildren, Gabriella Ballas, Brandon Chan, Jaret Kidd, Abigail Kidd, Madison Hood and Kaitlyn Hood; and many other close relatives.
Calling hours will be held Monday, July 16, from 5-8 p.m., at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 17, at 11 a.m., at Sts. Anargyroi Greek Church, 9 Central St., Marlborough, followed by interment at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson.
