Bernard A. WarrenSlidell, La. – Major Bernard Alfred Warren, 87, U.S. Air Force, Ret., of Slidell, La., passed away July 16, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia Mae Day Warren for the past 62 years.

He was father of Michael Warren, Jean Fiske (Ralph), James Warren, David Warren (Melaney), Theresa Hamilton (George) and Tracy Maus (David). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Northborough and a longtime resident of Slidell. He began his career in the U.S. Navy as an enlisted sailor on submarines, then enlisted in the Air Force and eventually became an officer. He retired as a U.S. Air Force Pilot, serving in Korea and Vietnam, flying C-130 Ski Aircraft along with other aircraft.

After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for AT&T, retiring in 1990.

He was passionate about playing guitars and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 697. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler with the Elks Lodge # 2321 in Slidell. He was a member and past Post Commander of the American Legion Post #374, and was a past Veteran of the Year in Slidell.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his funeral services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, La., on Friday, July 20, at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Rd., Slidell, La. Visitation takes place Friday from 9 a.m. until the start of the funeral service.

Donations to Children’s Hospital, New Orleans, are preferred, in lieu of flowers.
