Hudson – Tech savvy students from Assabet Valley Regional Technical Vocational High School, accompanied by teacher Steven Pleau, this past school year provided community service in the Marlborough-Hudson area. Among the locations they visited on a regular basis was the Hudson Senior Center where they met with seniors who were grateful for the opportunity to receive individual attention and expertise.
“We made several trips each school year, helping with whatever technology issues they may bring to us – getting into Facebook, logging on, setting up wireless networking, just figuring how to use the capabilities of their phones, tablets, computers, etc.,” said Pleau. “Our students are very knowledgeable and helpful with these issues. We are expanding our offerings to include possible hardware issues.”
Pleau and his team have been providing these services since 2015 when he was contacted by Janice Long, director of the Hudson Senior Center, who has high praise for Pleau.
“He is wonderful – a great teacher and instills professionalism in the students,” said Long. “It’s a wonderful intergenerational program. Those needing help look forward to having the kids help them. The students are enthusiastic, respectful, helpful and attentive.”
