Shrewsbury – Michael A. DeMalia, a devoted husband, a loving father and a committed Roman Catholic, entered into eternal life July 30, 2018 Anno Domini at 56 years old. Michael underwent and persevered through a long and valiant battle with cancer and entered into heaven surrounded by his family while at his home. He was determined to beat the disease until the very end.

Michael was a person of uncompromising integrity who valued two things above all else, God and family. He lived his life according to and adopted the motto of his father which was “AMDG” – Ad maiorem Dei gloriam (For the greater glory of God).

He was married for 33 years to his wife, Jeanne (Messier) DeMalia, whom he loved above all else.

Born in Worcester of Italian descent, he was the son of the late William A. and Teresa (Sabatalo) DeMalia.

Besides his wife, Jeanne, he is survived by his children, Michael A. DeMalia Jr., Rocco N. and his wife Ana, Dominic A., Salvatore A., Angelo B., Lorenzo G., Antonio J., Nicole M. and fiancé Daniel Parent, Danielle M. and fiancé Frankie Nieves, Brittany M. and fiancé Brett Coleman, Cassidy M., and Jessie M., along with two grandchildren, Kassandra and Jackson Parent. He is also survived by his siblings, William A. DeMalia, Jr. and his wife Patricia, John A. DeMalia and his wife Laurie, Mary T. DeMalia and Theresa M. Rocco and her husband Frank. Michael was also the father of the late Vincent W. and the brother of the late Andrew V. DeMalia.

In addition to his love for God and family, Michael was an avid lover of Christmas, enjoyed riding his motorcycle and particularly liked shooting his guns. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him most.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Roman Catholic Mass and Burial Thursday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m., in St. Stephen Parish, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery of Shrewsbury.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, Shrewsbury.
