Anne A. DealyShrewsbury – Anne A. (Sullivan) Dealy, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Aug. 17, 2018 at Notre Dame Health Care Center in Worcester, surrounded by family and friends.

Born Aug. 4, 1920 in Nashua, N.H., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Katherine Sullivan. She was a graduate of Nashua High School and Nashua Business College.

After her graduation and passing the civil service exam she was assigned to Washington D.C., FDIC office, where she was instrumental in establishing Social Security, and later she transferred to the Concord, N.H. office.

Anne met the love of her life, Frank Dealy, and they were married in 1942 and raised their four children beginning in Nashua, N.H. and moving to Worcester in 1953. She worked for Kelly Girl part-time after raising her children and then worked at the Worcester Police Department Accident Department for 25 years.

Anne was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved and cherished her family/friends unconditionally. She was always up for a party and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining.   She had an outstanding voice and loved to sing and dance. Her positive attitude would shine through every day. She was a true individual with a beautiful spirit inside and out.

A mother/grandmother/great-grandmother holds her children’s hands for a while…but their hearts forever.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon K. Avis and her husband Richard M. of Shrewsbury, with whom she lived for 25 years; two sons, Brian F. Dealy of Westford and his fiancé Janet Andreson of Holden and Kevin J. Dealy and his wife Leslie of North Attleboro; son-in-law Jang B. Singh of Holden (husband of her daughter, Carol A. Singh who passed away in 2017); and grandchildren/great-grandchildren, James Dealy and his wife Anna and their son Benjamin of Shrewsbury, Jennifer Dealy Tufano and her husband Brett of Niantic, Conn., John Dealy and his wife Karen and their daughters Ally and Erin and son Jack of Westford, Paul Dealy and his wife Bridget of Westford, Daniel Dealy and daughter Cheyenne of Plaistow, N.H. She is also survived by Lisa and Jos Sousa and their family of Shrewsbury, who Anne thought of as another daughter. Anne was predeceased by her daughter, Carol A. Singh, in 2017; her husband, Frank M. Dealy in 1983, they were married for 41 years; daughter-in-law Cynthia “Sandy” Dealy in 2012, wife of Brian Dealy; her brother, John A. Sullivan Jr.; her sister, Katherine M. Sullivan; and sister-in-law Hellen Blanchard Sullivan. Also, her longtime friends, Ruth Foley and Pam Cawley, both of Shrewsbury, and Rita McCarthy of Worcester.

She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Shrewsbury and the church Women’s Guild. She was a member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence and was a woman of very deep faith.

The family would especially like to thank and are forever grateful to Nelita Sansui, Cherrol Bennett and Ivy Forbes for their devotion, care and companionship of our mother who treated her as their own over the years. Patty and Jack Avis and family for always including and loving her. As well as Notre Dame Health Care Center current and former employees of South Wing’s staff, especially Sheila, Ivette, Marlene, Mo, Laurie, Karen, Janet, Purity, Evelyn, Michelle, Route, Linda, Beverly, Annabell; Social Services Cindy, NP Katie, reception Mary and Nicole, pastoral Erin and Kara (flowers) for their excellent care and compassion over the years. Also, Chris and Jim Schwarz and Dr. Pitts for their care and compassion.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Anne’s life by gathering for calling hours Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 4-7 p.m., at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, and again Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 8:30 a.m., before departing in procession at 9:40 a.m. to Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery of Hudson, N.H.

A mother is a friend you never outgrow.
