Hudson Cultural Council seeks new members

Hudson – The Hudson Cultural Council (HCC) is looking for volunteers interested in serving as voting members who can help share ideas and knowledge when making determinations on how funding for the cultural council is dispensed.

The Hudson Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.

Decisions about which activities to support are made at the community level by a board of municipally appointed volunteers. Members of the Hudson Cultural Council are Dorothy Bagley, Cathleen Carlino, Jennifer Ferrari, Jennifer Finn, Ellen King, Ellen Kisslinger, Doris Monteiro, Helene Mutti, Elaine Recklet and Sarah Worrest.

Some of this year’s grant recipients include The Discovery Museum, Assabet Valley Camera Club, Hudson Division of Recreation, Symphony Pro Musica, Hudson Public Library, Sounds of Stow, Nashoba Friends of Music, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Hudson Public Schools, Friends of the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge, and River’s Edge Arts Alliance.

Contact Jennifer Ferrari, co-chair of the HCC, at 978-212-9706 or via email at [email protected] with any questions about becoming a member. To apply, fill out an interest form at the Hudson Town Clerk’s Office, 78 Main St. An online link to the form is also accessible on the Town of Hudson website at www.townofhudson.org/Public_Documents/HudsonMA_BComm/vacancies.
