Marlborough – The Marlborough Historical Society’s new membership year begins Sept. 1 and runs to Aug. 31, 2019. Membership fees are $20 for individuals; $35 for families; $15 for students; and $250 for a lifetime membership (must be over the age of 62).

The society’s current Board of Trustees consists of 17 members which includes two ex-officio members, an archivist and curator. The Board plans the monthly educational presentations and are also responsible for the upkeep of the Peter Rice Homestead and taking care of the financial needs of the society.

Members receive a Marlborough Historical Society quarterly newsletter and are updated monthly on the historical events and educational presentations. They are also entitled to a discount on calendar purchases. Members are asked, but not required, to volunteer with some of the society-sponsored events. Membership fees help with the expenses of the Peter Rice Homestead and the archives.

The Peter Rice Homestead is located at 377 Elm St., Marlborough. It is open on Tuesday mornings 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. There is also a monthly genealogy workshop. The next one is Thursday, Aug. 30, from 6-8 p.m.
