Shirley J. BedardWells, Maine – Shirley J. (Hinckley) Bedard, 86, of Wells, Maine, and formerly of Marlborough and Hudson, died Aug. 28, 2018 at Avita of Wells. Her husband, Emile L. Bedard, died Feb. 4, 2017.

She was born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Louis J. and Edmire M. (Lesieur) Hinckley, and was a graduate of Marlborough High School, class of 1949.

Shirley was an assistant vice president at the former Marlborough Co-Operative Bank, where she worked for 35 years, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Wells and a member of Wells-Ogunquit Lions Club, former member of Christ the King Church in Hudson and its Ladies Sodality.  Shirley was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and gardening.

She married Emile Bedard, her high school sweetheart, June 30, 1951. They moved to Hudson, where they raised their five daughters, all of whom attended and graduated Hudson Catholic High School.

She leaves five daughters, Suzanne L. Davis of Brockton, Yvonne A. Alford of Warren, Ohio, Lorraine M. Lavigne and her husband Al Lavigne of Hudson, Dianne M. Hayes and her husband Donald Hayes of Rutland, and Elaine M. Goebel of Wells, Maine; two brothers, Louis R. Hinckley of Berlin and Paul D. Hinckley of Woodbury Conn.; a sister, Madeline A. Dupuis of Marlborough; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Hinckley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 9 a.m., in St. Michael’s Church, 20 High St., Hudson. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 278 Cox St. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 5-8 p.m., in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m., at St Mary’s Church, 236 Eldridge Rd., Wells, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to a charity.
