Shrewsbury – Now in its fifth year, “Let Your Spirit Sacrifice” will take place Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at Ski Ward, 1000 Main St., in Shrewsbury and serves as a prelude to the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival weekend.

“The Spirit of Shrewsbury is a celebratory time to reflect on all our vibrant community has to offer,” said state Rep. Hannah Kane (R-Shrewsbury). “A few years ago, I felt that the giving spirit of the Shrewsbury community should be the focus of a fun evening of giving that annually highlighted different local charitable efforts.”

Each year, the event committee selects a nonprofit organization to support, highlighting the efforts of local volunteers.

“This year we are focused on the Shrewsbury Fire and Police Relief Association, ensuring that the families of our deceased public safety personnel are supported in their time of loss,” Kane noted.

Kane will be joined by fellow hosts: Selectman Beth Casavant; Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services Vice-Chair Melissa Pride-Fahs; David Faucher, Chris Abbascia and Chad Chysna, members of the Shrewsbury Patrolman’s Union; and Aaron Roy, Sean Lawlor and Rory Ahern, members of the Shrewsbury Firefighters Association.

“This event is a great opportunity to think about the different nonprofit organizations in our community and highlight the work being done in a fun, relaxed atmosphere,” Casavant said. “Many may not even realize that the Shrewsbury Fire and Police Relief Association exists, so we raise awareness while we raise funds and kick off Spirit of Shrewsbury weekend.”

Tickets are $50 per person and $75 per couple and are required in advance. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Fire Chief Jim Vuona and refreshments catered by Struck Catering.

Sponsorships are available at the following levels: Presenting Sponsor, $1,500; Spirit Sponsor, $1,000; Community Sponsor, $500; Public Safety Sponsor, $250; and Benefactor, $100.

Checks can be made payable to the Shrewsbury Fire and Police Relief Association and mailed to Rep. Hannah Kane, P.O. Box 595, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
