Helen E. StoneGrafton –  Helen E. (Kelly) Stone, 92, passed away Sept. 13, 2018 after a sudden illness. Her husband, Arthur W. Stone Sr., passed away in 1991.

She leaves one son, Arthur W. Stone Jr. of Grafton; her grandchildren, Arthur W. Stone III and Julieanne Stone; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Her son, James E. Stone; grandson, Daniel Stone; and her sisters, Louise M. Butterworth and Elizabeth M. Corey, predeceased her.

Helen was born Dec. 9, 1925 in Braintree, daughter of the late Elizabeth C. (Sheehan) and Joseph H. Kelly. She lived in Weymouth for 15 years and was a Grafton resident since 1965.

She worked as Executive Secretary for Attorney Edward C. Maher in Worcester. Previously, she worked at Ball Financial Associates in Westborough for 10 years and at The Equitable Life Insurance Company.

She was a member of St. Philip’s Church and past President of its Women’s Club. Helen was also the first woman lector in the Diocese of Worcester. She was a member and past President of The Dolphin Wives Club, an organization instrumental in the initiation of fundraising for The USS Arizona memorial museum in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and was also a member of the Good Sam Camping Club. Helen also was a member of the Grafton CERT organization and was active in her support of Veterans Inc. in Worcester.

All are welcome to gather with Helen’s family Thursday, Sept. 20, from 4-7 p.m., at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Philip’s Church, 12 West St., Grafton. She will then be laid to rest at St. Phillip Cemetery in Grafton.
