Loving Mother and Nana
Shrewsbury – Helen F. Reynolds, 80, of Shrewsbury, went home peacefully Sept. 11, 2018 while residing at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. She was married to the late James B. Reynolds, who passed away in 1991.
Born in Lowell, Helen was the daughter of the late William H. and Esther M. (Duplessis) Connor. She graduated from Lowell High School, class of 1956, where she was very proud to be a member of the Girl Officers’ Club. Helen lived most of her adult life in Shrewsbury.
She was a legal secretary for many years and, in her retirement, she served as a receptionist at the Shrewsbury Senior Center, worked at the polls on Election Day, and was a Eucharistic Minister in her parish of St. Mary’s in Shrewsbury. She loved being with people and made friends wherever she went.
Helen leaves her beloved daughter, Judy Best of Jefferson, as well as her grandchildren, Katherine and Meghan Morrison, Lindsey and Eric Best, Rosemarie “Katie” and Timothy Reynolds. She is also survived by her two sisters, Esther Hopkins of Hampton, N.H. and Phyllis Irvin of Windham, N.H.; her son-in-law, James Morrison of Stoneham, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends who were all very special to her. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two of her children, Susan Morrison and James Reynolds Jr., as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Frank Rene, and her brothers-in-law, William Irvin Sr. and David Hopkins Sr.
Helen lived fully and witnessed joy every day. She was drawn to the water and spent every chance she had by the pool or at the beach. She also loved to go out with friends, cheer for the Red Sox, play Scrabble and do crossword puzzles.
Although she suffered the loss of her husband and two children, she never lost her faith in God and was a strong, faithful member of St. Mary’s Parish throughout her years in Shrewsbury. She will be greatly missed by family and friends, her parish family, and her Senior Center companions.
Helen’s funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 14 at St. Mary’s Church of Shrewsbury, with burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
