Joan H. HersomMarlborough – Joan H. (Flynn) Hersom, formerly of Marlborough, died peacefully Sept. 27, 2018. She was born May 11, 1932 to the late Lester and Catherine(Coffey) Flynn.

Joan was a kind, strong, outgoing and energetic woman who above all else was devoted to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed for her spunk, her laughter and her unwavering love for family.

She was a hard worker having put herself into the workforce at age 13. She spent most of her adult life working for (Ma Bell) Verizon while raising her four children.  Joan also worked for many years as a real estate agent in the Marlborough area.     She enjoyed traveling, outings with her sisters, gardening, reading and finding treasures at yard sales.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edmund R. Hersom, who died in 2015, and her son, Clifford E. Hersom, who died in 2006.

She leaves her children, Diane H. Landry and her husband Craig of Holliston, Debra A. Wall and her husband Tom of Auburn, and Brian R. Hersom and his fiancé Lesa Ann Dittmer of Cocoa Beach, Fla.: her beloved grandchildren, Shanna and Peter Landry, Jason and Chrissie Landry, Shawn Landry and partner Erin Linnell, Andrew and James Wall, Patrick Wall and his wife Katie; seven beautiful great-grandchildren; her sisters, Kay Gates and Eileen Di Palm; and her late brother, Robert Flynn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home of Marlborough is assisting with arrangements.

Donations in her memory may be made to charity of one’s choice.
